Select Seeds of Culbertson, Nebraska begins its 5th year as an Independent Regional Company for Axis Seed. According to Rod Spencer, who started the company with his wife Debbie in 2000, his company was one of the first to join Axis Seed.
“It’s great to be working with Axis Seed and be able to offer a wide variety of genetics that work on farms in our sales area,” Spencer said. Select Seeds sells the Axis Seed brand in 14 counties in southwestern Nebraska, 16 counties in northwestern Kansas and three counties in eastern Colorado. Select Seeds has two full-time seed and agronomy professionals, a warehouse manager, a customer service representative, and three other Seed Professionals to deliver personalized agronomic service in the three states. Spencer has been a seedsman for 20 years. “People buy from people. We have established relationships with our customers. We know what works on their land, which lets us recommend the best genetics for them. And as an independent company, we are able to give them the customer service they need and appreciate.” Select Seeds has access to all the current traits and technologies available. Spencer has a long history of farming in the Nebraska area and knows the land well. Today, his two sons manage the day-to-day farming operation in Hitchcock and Red Willow County.
