Axis Seed is currently made up of 17 Independent Regional Companies (IRC) stretching from Sunny California to the Statue of Liberty. Each week we will be featuring an IRC in hopes that our audience will learn about what an IRC does and why they chose to be part of the Axis Family. This week’s Featured IRC is Mike Burdick with Axis Seed of Central Iowa. Meet Mike!
Our IRC operating in central Iowa (Axis Seed of Central Iowa) is owned by Mike Burdick. Burdick is originally from Michigan, but moved to Iowa to attend Iowa State University studying Ag Business and Politics within the agricultural sector. After college, Mike spent four years working for The Climate Corporation as a District Sales Manager in the Insurance and Ag Data Management fields, before shifting his focus to the Seed Industry with Axis, last summer. He’s spent much of his time introducing the Axis Brand to the central Iowa geography in his first year of business, by meeting and talking with growers about their specific needs by field, or crop, and discussing the significant advantages gained by working with a family owned and operated seed company. Mike has taken the approach of discovering a field’s characteristics and necessities, and developing a solid cropping plan as the first step to having a successful season for both the grower and his seedsman. Outside of the office and away from the farm gate, Mike enjoys spending time outdoors, whether it be on the ball diamond, or the golf course in the summer, or skiing with friends and family in the winter.
